I am traveling to Belize (Southern) to determine if its somwhere I would like to live part-time. I am into fishing and would like to fishe there for a few years. I would like to know of any local people I could hire to fish with, not a guide , just someone to fish with even for a price. Just want to get the local flavor. Any advice that you may want to share is most welcome.

If you're traveling to Belize, you might as well consider going and relaxing in their shore drifted hotel.
The accommodations are great in those hotels near the beach, specially in the town district of Corozal.
