'Seeking Belizeans Living in the States to test new social network' Technology

Hey all- My name is Drew, and I'm working on getting my masters at Parsons' in New York. I’m looking for people sign up and use my thesis project, which is designed for use by Belizeans. After living and doing work in Belize for several years (mostly in Dangriga), I was inspired to create a new communication tool called Pigeon.

Pigeon is a social network that you access through a phone call. Pigeon gives you one voice message that lasts one minute to tell your world what's up. You can think of your Pigeon message as a voice status update, an audio micro-blog, or space for citizen journalism. All you do to sign up for Pigeon is call (713) 574-9488.

One potential use for Pigeon is described in a video that I've made that you can watch on youtube by searching 'pigeon' and 'drewcogbill'. I think that Pigeon could have many more uses as well. I'm using it to hear what's going on with my mom and my friends back home in Arkansas.

Once you sign up, you will need to add contacts, so feel free to send this along to any friends along with your new Pigeon number.

There is currently only one US Pigeon access number - (713) 574-9488, but in the long-term, I'd like to have numbers that are globally accessible, hopefully starting in Belize.

So basically what is the difference of your system from Voice Over IPs or Instant Messaging System? Believe me your system needs to have an edge over the rest such as Skype, Various Messengers (like Yahoo, GTalk, MSN, AIM) and other VOIPS which offers a lot cheaper alternatives to telephoning. Why don't you provide the website of your company or the pigeon here and what are its edge over its other counterpart?

If it is a social network access then I believe you at least have a decent website or even free domain to back up and shows its capabilities rather than just a Youtube video. Why haven't you posted the link to this forum, I think you lacked the convincing power to let us try your new application. How much do you charge for it and what are the other relevant issues of your application. I think you should do a follow-up post regarding this on the forums.

If this is a social network application then why don't just use the usual Facebook, Myspace, Bebo etc.? Why go through all the hassle of calling your friends or peers one by one for a short audio update when you can do so with much more time online? If it includes a telephone system or line it means that it has a payment system which you clearly did not state here. So overall I think your system is not that promising or appealing at all.
