I am married to a Colombian woman for 3 years and we want to return to Colombia to live..As an American Citizen.How do I go about getting my citizenship there? Can I start the process here at my local consulate or do I need be present in Colombia first..Please reply ..Thank You...

I am married to a Colombian, and at various points have contemplated retirement in Colombia. Some years ago I wrote the Colombian embassy to enquire about residency status. They advised that there would be no problem to obtain residency. We are comtemplating the idea again.

I am also married to a Colombian. We are retiring to Colombia next year. I have spoken to the Colombian Consulate, You can visit their Web Site, and down load the info concerning permanent spousal residency. The process is very easy, but requires 2 years residency in Colombia.

You will be gratified to know that some of the more egregious requirements have been eliminated. For example you don't need the notarized Police report and will not need to deal with the Apostille(Apostillados). Here are the requirements:

1.Two (not three)passport pictures.

2.Valid passport or Document of Travel.

3.Fill in the application form.(You can print this form from several sites)

4.Photocopy of Passport.

5.Authenticated copy of the Marriage Certificate.

6.Written application of the Colombian spouse requesting the visa.(They even have a sample of a letter that one can use)

7.Authenticated copy of the Colombian spouse's ID.(cedula de cidadania)

i am also married to a colombian woman. the best thing i ever did. i have never been so happy. i have been married for more than ten years and it has been the best ten years of my life. i have never had an argument with my woman, never. there are not many marriages that that can boast that fact. colombian waman are the finest.

a picture perfect life style. san andres people all speak english, and are very fine people. the best i have ever met, and i have traveled all over the world, and san andres colombia is the best and freeist place i have ever encountered.

i want to purchase a liquor store in cali colombia. although i am retiring in 7 years to live in cali, what requirements are needed for me to have a business in cali until i move there? how hard is it to live in cali ,yet be a american citizen? please help me//?what is the average income of a liquor store ? is it true i can buy one for about five thousand dollars american?is it also true that they will average about ten thousand dollars american a year average profit??any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks john

I am 70 years old and am thinking about retiring in Cali, Colombia. I would be interested in purchasing a home and also am an avid tennis player. Is Cali a reasonably good selection and what would be the life style cost. Also, what are the medical costs likely to be in Colombia. Does the Medicare of the U.S. apply?

My mother is a Colombian-born, now naturalized US citizen (in 1988). I was born in the US. I am interested in purchasing some property in Colombia and would like to acquire dual Colombian citizenship (or passport) as it would fascilitate some of the procedures. Am I able to claim Colombian citizenship through my mother? And if so, how do I go about it? I had a read on the embassy“s website and I thought it was a bit vague.
