I am moving to the Stann Creek area of Belize and am trying to find a job in Health care.I am a registered nurse and looking for information on available jobs in and near Dangriga and the process for getting a nursing license there.

Is that a registered nurse license? It all depends on where you are originating from. How about expats living in Belize. They would be able to advice you appropriately. I bet if you have verifiable experience in nursing, I doubt if you should have any trouble

That should be pretty easy. Have you tried to ask around or better still, had an overview of the whole Belize health care sector? It has been stated that to get or apply for a nursing license, you have to fill an application in the said country. I would not as such limit myself to a particular part of the country unless there is enough proof of a bountiful of jobs. It would be easy following that up whilst in Belize. hope you have your original transcripts within reach. How about you check this out?

I agree with moy there, I think you should be oriented of Belize's health care department. Or don't you have any relatives or friends that have been there? I think the best way to be oriented in such place, until your there is to listen to stories of who've been there. I think it would be of great help if you consider the web for answers. Hope you'd find the answers..

True Kira. As a matter of fact, what most people do is have an overview of a particular country before even knowing what is in store in the particular destination. Relocation in itself is not an easy thing altogether and it takes the person that has done enough research the easiest of processes involved.
The medical profession is one that does not just end with retirement so all the best!

Thanks for those info... i think i would have to first check on websites and oh well magazines to read more on this country that i am about to go to.. But well i would still be going so it would be nice if anybody could post ideas, or anything that might help an expat like me who would be moving abroad and start my health care career. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Living and working in a foreign country means more than learning new languages and customs, and it's never quite like what it seems in travel books and brochures!Like any new experience, living abroad has it's wonderful moments — and then there are those moments when all you want to do is run home. For most expats, the moments of happy discovery far outweigh the bad times.

Certainly, you would want to have lots of good memories on your stay rather than to have a very bad moments as an expat in a certain country. You might read lots of positive writings on several reading materials mostly from articles from the net, however, you should bear in mind that not all that are written are based on reality, sometimes they just write good stuffs to attract traveling expats like you.

Trying to have a RN license in Belize? I suggest that you go to the country's employment or immigration agency. You can also check the net for information regarding the Belize hospitals and medical jobs. You can certainly find lots of information regarding this matter. Or maybe you can ask expats who work in Belize by the use of several forums, just like this one.
Good luck on your search..

Of course you have to be a licensed nurse to be able to work in Belize. And after you compiled all the requirements needed in the job, i guess you have to know some pointers on how to obtain a working permit in Belize.Belize's labour regulations are designed to protect the local job market to enable the employment of as many Belizeans as possible, and understandably so. Employment of foreign citizens is possible, however, under certain circumstances. There are two types of work permit applications in Belize.

This what I know about RNRN in the medical world means "Registered Nurse".
I suggest that you would need a good Nursing degree from a good reputable university that could be certified by government accredited agencies.
But registering this license to other governments might need a little more than a local license.
I suggest you get to pass a NCLEX-RN examinations which is mostly accredited in the whole world.

So Alpher, you seem to know lots of things regarding nursing schools and how to become a licensed nurse in the future, do you happen to be a nursing student before or are you a nurse already? If so, can you please post here some more details regarding this matter so that we can be able to learn more. Thanks a lot and hope to hear from all of you soon.

Maybe Alpher is a RN himself for him to impart such important nursig information. Thanks a lot Alpher and I hope that you can come back here for more info. Anyway, I have to say that there are indeed lots of good stuffs to see and to experience in Belize, and of course, if you want to stay longer, you surely have to find a good job. Have a good day.
