'Advice on Sustainable Living' Life

Any advice for a young couple with intentions of taking the leap to Belize, finding work, and helping in the community?

We both graduated from UT Austin and plan on eventually attending Galen University (San Ignacio, Belize City) for our MBA.

My background is in City Planning with a focus on downtown, parks, open space, and transportation.

My life goal is to: Make Place Positive.

If you know of anyone working on Sustainable Land Developments, I would love to hear about any opportunities for employment (I also have a real estate license).

My partner is a manager for a production studio (films, commercials, corporate training videos, documentaries, etc) here in Austin. She has training in sales, sales management, and personal/life coaching.

Her life goal is to: Shine Positive Light.

We also have experience sitting on non-profit boards and would love to continue to donate time and energy to worthwhile causes.

Any advice?

Wow, you too are great. I am trying to absorb your "energies" and "positive lights", but I just can't do it. If you want to spread your positive outlook in life then why not start at your own country. I bet there are people in your place in need of your wisdom and helpful hand. Or try reaching out to places severely in need of help like Africa. Just search the net and you'll find..

You're both to be commended for your hard work and willingness to contribute to the community. As you may have gathered from Timothy's comment, there are plenty of people here who will be resentful of your suggestion that anyone may need your help! I ran into that a lot when I first got here, too, and finally got the point. Most people are content with their situation, and don't really feel it needs "fixing" or even much change. You will enjoy life much more here if you don't try to turn it into another version of the place you came from... look me up when you get here.

Hi to all. I was hoping to get some useful info here regarding the current living conditions of the expats in the country of Belize. I am currently looking for the best place to retire and I thought of retiring in the said country with my husband.
